Weather station for network operators

The challenge for grid operators today is to send the optimal amount of electricity through the grid lines at any given time. This quantity is influenced by a number of factors, including weather conditions such as wind, temperature, and solar radiation. If underground cables heat up due to external factors, both the ground clearance (a safety issue) and transmission capacity decrease.

In complex studies, particularly polluted hotspots are identified along a route and monitoring stations are installed. These weather stations are used to record wind speed, wind direction, temperature, relative humidity, and, if necessary, global radiation.

Based on this data, among other things, the voltage fed into the grid is adjusted and its utilization is optimized.
